What is A2P Exchange?
A2P Exchange refers to application to phone sms or voice traffic and when two or more carriers exchange sms/voice traffic over the public network.
When people sign up to new apps or get their shipment delivered SMS or Voice calls are being sent and the telecom service providers send those A2P messages from one hop to another, the platform that allows the telecom service providers to interconnect is called A2P Exchange.
A2P Exchange Platform, Why Build One ?
In this blog we will not be discussing the reasons for A2P growth, instead we will be focusing on why do we need to build an A2P Exchange platform.
The Problem
If you have ever tried to get SMS or Voice interconnections with operators before you’ll immediately connect emotionally to this blog post 🙂 if not i will try to explain to you some of the problems you will face if you’re trying to connect to SMS and voice service providers.
The experience is very similar to the experience we had before with Voice Carriers, which mean to interconnect with one single carrier you need to spend months if not years to get the paper work done, business case approved and other questions like what is your message content, who are you sending it to and why etc…
Even when you supply the carrier with all the information you still don’t get a good delivery rate and you’re still charged per submission regardless if the SMS was delivered or not, that does not make any sense to me and am sure it won’t make sense to you, while it takes manually many years to connect to a few carriers and tons of security deposits.

It as a simple entering your SMPP host:Port , Username and Password, Uploading your tariff/Price-list on the exchange.
Once that has been done successfully, your routes will be visible to 500+ buyers on the Market View, buyers click click one button to interconnect and start utilizing the SMPP Route you have offered.

Connect to the Exchange via API with Restcomm Cloud
Sending traffic to the A2P Exchange via RESTFul API and SDKs is quiet simple.
Restcomm Cloud is a full stack CPaaS enablement platform, once you have registered for a Restcomm Cloud account you can point your Restcomm account to the exchange using SIP for Voice and SMPP for SMS, once that’s done you can start sending voice and sms traffic using Restcomm Cloud REST APIs.
